Fat – Sugar – Carbohydrates
If you want to lose weight, you should start by avoiding sugar and starch based foods (like white bread).
For 150 years or more there have been an infinite number of weight-loss diets based on eating less carbs. What’s new is that dozens of modern scientific studies have proven that, yes, low carb is the most effective way to lose weight. If you are prediabetic is becomes critical that you change the way you live and most importantly – what you eat.
If I lock myself in a room with 100 chocolate bars and a few large bottle’s of any fizzy drink you care to name, for a month – I won’t die ( maybe ) and I will lose weight ( probably ) – the point is the same – it is possible to lose weight on any diet – just eat less calories than you burn, right?
The problem with this simplistic advice is that it ignores two things : Hunger. Most people don’t like to “just eat less”, i.e. being hungry forever. That’s dieting for masochists. Sooner or later a normal person will give up and eat, gain weight; hence the prevalence of “yo-yo dieting”.
Finally – the super slim me will be released back into the world and hey – the minute I return to my “normal diet” my blood sugar levels will be all over the place – driving my moods – and I will increase in weight – again probably – beyond where I started.
The main advantage of a lower carb diet is that they cause you to want to eat less. Even without counting calories most overweight people eat far fewer calories on a lower carb diet. Let’s not forget, starchy carbs like pasta are not the same as vegetables.
Sugar and starchy carbs ( like pasta) may increase your hunger, avoiding them may decrease your appetite to an adequate level. If your body wants to eat an appropriate number of calories you don’t need to bother counting them. SO … Calories count, but you don’t need to count them.
Bottom line: A low carb diet reduces your hunger and makes it easier to eat less. And it might even increase your fat burning at rest. Study after study show that low carb is the smart way to lose weight and that it improves important health markers. At Sugarmedown we love fruit and vegetables, good quality protein and some dairy all washed down with eight glasses of water a day. Sounds easy and it is, but breaking the habit of eating food that makes you, and keeps you fat, isn’t easy! Anyone who tells you it is, is either making money from the tale or perhaps just not being truthful! After the first week of going it alone, it becomes more difficult. Especially when you are surrounded by friends and family who want to eat pasta, pizza, bread and a curry on a Friday night!
We recommend a 12 week journey, where we support you to find the best way to plan diet, alter your lifestyle so you can lose weight and change how you do things for the future. #Sugarmedown #Forpeoplewholovetolivelife
